overall • so, you wanna know my life story? well, i better start out with my name. i'm jacob temples and i'm currently attending new york university. i'm twenty-one. i'm not from new york though, i'm from tennessee. i know, how did a country bumpkin end up in the big city? well, it all started out with my birth. my parents were so excited to have their little boy to help out with the farm and everything that we lived on. i grew up around the farm animals and the smell and all the hard work. every night though, when i was supposed to be sleeping, i would turn on some music and do whatever my body wanted to do. i thought the way i danced was stupid, but it turns out i was actually really good. one night though, dad caught me dancing and ordered me to stop immediately. so i did, for the time being.
one day, when i was five, i finished feeding the horses early. so, i snuck up to my room without my parents knowing. dad was out in town, selling milk to the store and mom was taking a nap. suddenly, i heard a muffled scream. i peeked out of my door to see my mother in a struggle with my uncle. my mom lost her balance and fell down the stairs. my uncle, who probably thought i was still outside, fled from the house. i went to my mother, trying to wake her up. her eyes never did open. i never told anyone my uncle did it, for he went missing the next day. i just told my dad that mom had stepped wrong and fell.
me and dad didn't hang out as much after mom died. we were always so busy, with the farm and everything. only time we really spoke was in the morning and at dinner. dad soon met a lady visiting in town from new york, and for some reason, i saw her a lot. she had a son one year younger than me, and we hung out a lot. they became engaged, ms. brittany and dad did, and they got married when i was seven. me and dad sold the farm, then moved to new york with brittany and gregory. i liked my new family, they were cool. i did whatever i could to help mom and dad, and so did gregory. a lot of people thought me and gregory were ferternal twins, with the way we were always hanging out and stuff.
time flew by, and soon, me and gregory had graduated high school. neither of us were going to college for a year, we didn't have the money anyways. mom and dad had rented an apartment for us to share, which we didn't mind. me and him had a couple of girlfriends here and there. i enjoyed my life until i turned nineteen and found out that one of my girlfriends from when i was eighteen had become pregnant with my child. she was giving me custody and only agreeing to pay for child support. so, i took in ted. only my family knows. now, i'm a drama and dance major at the university, just waiting for my chance at stardom.

jake carried ted across the tiny living room, making funny faces at his two year old son. he giggled loudly, in a toddler-like way. jake chuckled as well, setting ted down on the couch before going to the kitchen. he loved being a dad, just not at twenty-one when he was trying to attend college and when he was really poor. it was just hard to do all the things he needed to do, then also take care of a toddler. and what about when he grew up? would jake still be living with his step-brother in a tiny apartment with practically no money? oh well, atleast he had gregory to help him with ted. jake opened the fridgerator and took out some apple juice. he poured it into a sippy cup and secured the lid before going back to his son. ted was playing around with cookie, the family's tiny puppy. here you go buddy. jake said softly, handing ted the cup and watching as he sucked on the opening happily. jake ruffled his son's hair lightly before turning to the tv. it was some show on lifetime. wife swap, he thought that's what it was, but he just wasn't sure. ted watched the screen while drinking his juice, eyes wide as he tried to understand what he was listening and watching. jake took the cup as ted seemed to finish and set it on the coffee table. he then pulled up ted's shirt and blew on his stomach, listening to his son's happy and excited giggles. his son's tiny hands hit his head, as if they could stop his dad's attack on his stomach. finally jake sat up, pulling ted's shirt back down and hugging his son. i love you buddy. jake whispered in ted's ear, smiling lightly to nobody.
