living in the radio lost in the stereo sound I’M LOSING HOPE SHE’S SO LOST IN STEREO - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - lissa was not in the best of moods. why, you ask? well. she'd tried, so damn hard just to smile through it all and block out all the words that seemed to be sprouting from the blonde devil herself. yes, lissa hated fliss that much that she was now just going to be referred to as blonde devil. so childish, but lissa just wasn't in the mood to be mature anymore. honestly, whenever her grandmother visited, it wasn't like what you saw in the movies. some plump elderly grannie with candy and funky knitted sweaters and one of those cheery faces. no. far from it. lissa's grandmother was one scary woman, she could be fierce when she didn't get her own way and of course felicity was a total kiss up. honestly, it made her want to throw up watching her trying to get attention just so that she'd get a little recognition or even the offer of a modelling job. lissa had heard her moan about it enough times to her snooty little friends and laughed everytime. she just thought the world revolved around her, and lissa had had enough.
so what had she done then? being the sneaky little thing she was, lissa stole one of felicity's newest little designer numbers and got herself ready to go out and have a little fun to escape the whole happy family facade. it was so ridiculous that her mother expected everyone to play happy families and pretend that everything was alright when it clearly wasn't. that was just it, lissa was happy with life it was just some of the people in it she wasn't so happy with. it was strange to think, really, that when she left for los angeles she was leaving behind years of friendships and lost contact with them all. but when she came back, she found that she'd missed a lot. there were a lot of newbies running around, and she could remember all the old faces so well that she could tell who was who and who was new, so it was off putting to try and worm her way back into the status she'd been before. but that had been months ago, now she was focused on trying to convince herseld that she had to study for her classes or she was going to fail. she didn't even want to be at college really, it was something to simply pass the time and keep her busy. also it was something else to prove that she wasn't just some spoiled airhead.
she stared down at the glass in front of her, but with all the thoughts and frustration swirling around her head, she could barely focus on anything around her. lissa was only mildly aware of the music and forced conversations people were attempting over the music, so that it came out as a shouting match, but the words were still unintelligable as everyone else was doing the same thing out on the dancefloor. she usually took great amusement at watching girls make a fool of their drunken selves, hanging all over any man that would look their way, giving them a cleavage flash and attempt to drunkenly sway with them. but tonight she stayed safe at the bar, in the hopes that she could just drink in peace and clear her head, just to take a bit of a breather really. if she was going to admit anything, it was that her workload was starting to pile up on her, christmas was soon and she was getting stressed just thinking about her mother's usual professionally catered family meal and that she'd been looking at her gin and tonic for the last twenty minutes with no intentions of drinking it. yet. she didn't even know where she was to be honest, well. she knew she was still in the city obviously, but she'd hailed down the first cab she saw and demanded he took her to the nearest bar and thrust a handful of twenties at him. probably the wrong thing to do really, but he was happy enough to take her to the nearest place, which turned out to only be ten minutes away but at least he was satisfied with the triple tip. and here she was, alone at the bar, trying to think. she didn't dare go walking at night..not after last time anyway. it's odd to imagine yourself attempting to relax and chill out while you're in some crowded night club, but it seemed to be working. kind of. she was feeling more relaxed at least. though, she was starting to have suspicions that it was only because there was a man not too far away from her smoking a joint and the fumes were starting to make their way over. she wasn't complaining. whatever was going on, she was feeling better at any rate, and had stopped noticing what was happening around her, going off into a little day dream of her own.

It was karaoke night at the club where Harry worked at and he was the only person on staff that seemed to know how to set the stage up in the front. He wasn't really looking forward to watching drunk people belting out Shinia Twain or Love Shack while they were drunk, but it would be a huge tip night in a little bit so that would always be good. He just hoped that nobody would try to hook up with him or be desperate for his attention, he didn't much like that part of his job now that he was with Brynne.
An hour later the stage was finally ready, and since Harry still was a bit sick from having the flu a few days ago, he let his coworker do the opening for the karaoking to begin. It was now time for his break, which he was glad about. His phone was ringing, and he pulled it out of his pocket as cheers started when the crowd realized that this night was a karaoke night. The caller was Bee, and Harry knew that she would want to know if it was karaoke night, but he simply couldn't hear on the phone, nor would he probably be heard. "What? I'm sorry, I'll call you back later, its a little crazy right now!" Harry shouted above the crowd though his reception was now going bad too. "Bee... Bee?" His line had gone dead a few moments ago and he realized that he had been talking to himself that past minute. He hated it when phones dropped calls like that.
On his way to the bar a man who had been smoking bumped into him, and moved in on Harry as if he wanted to take him down for something that hadn't been his fault. Harry took a step backward, not wanting anything to start while he was working. "I'd suggest you'd watch where you're going, sir" Harry said dropping his tone to sarcasm on the word sir. Standing at over six feet tall, Harry was taller than most people, but this guy was taller and much bigger than he was, though he still wasn't intimidated. It was easy to get used to a bartender job since you dealt with this sort of thing every once in awhile. The older guy laughed however and spoke to his friend. "Who does this kid think he is?" Harry raised his eyebrows at this. If there was one thing that bugged him, it was being called a kid at twenty one, and before he could open his mouth to say something, a friend of the older guy came up and put a shoulder on him. "Just walk it off, you're drunk." The older guy looked at the friend and looked over Harry's shoulder. "But he's standing in my way of the pretty lady over there." Harry looked over to see who he had been talking about, and saw his friend Lissa sitting there, almost lost to the world. A frown appeared and Harry looked over at the guy again, sliding to the side, blocking his way towards his friend completely. One of the reasons why Harry had suddenly gotten over protective of Lissa then was because she had been his girlfriend back in high school after him and Bee broke up, though they hadn't lasted too long as a couple, just a few months.
He still cared about her and wouldn't let anybody hurt her or mess with her if he could help it. And tonight he could help it, especially since he was working. He crossed his arms and made eye contact with the guy. "You were saying?" he asked darkly as the laughed again."This kid is serious... hey pretty girl come over here!" the man called, causing Harry to look over his shoulder at Lissa again.
notes: Sorry its kinda bad...

living in the radio lost in the stereo sound I’M LOSING HOPE SHE’S SO LOST IN STEREO - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - the thing about being alone at the bar was, you were alone. there was always some male oggling you and attempting to buy you drinks and gain your attention no matter what. lissa always found that pretty pathetic, even if it was flattering to have someone drool over you. well. partially flattering. it's like, if you look terrible and someone tells you that you look amazing, it's kind of a compliment. anyway, back to the point, lissa was very much alone and in her own little world. so she didn't notice that a few feet away there was a little dispute going on. it wasn't until some woman who was sat in the stool next to her own, clearly enjoying what was going on, nudged her sharply to get her attention. she was slightly irritated that she was being pestered but then again, it usually took a while to get lissa out of one of her dazes. she was one of those platinum blonde, tangerine orange, spider-eyed barbie dolls with hardly any clothes on, but she seemed nice enough and lissa just gave her an odd look as she was elbowed. "sorry, but your friends are arguing and they keep looking over - i think they need you." clearly she was just shit-stirring, trying to get something to happen. lissa was confused though - friends? she had them, but she didn't think any of them would need her. lissa followed the woman's gaze and saw three men, who didn't even seem to be arguing - merely talking. she couldn't really tell to be honest and it wasn't until the biggest man looked directly at her "...hey pretty girl come over here!"
to be fair, she didn't quite know what to do with herself. there was no danger in hell that she was going over there like some dog being summoned. she was going to just ignore them and hope that they'd bugger off but just before she turned back round, someone caught her eye. mainly because he was one of the three males beckoning her to come over to their...little group. that's the thing with returning home and going to the same clubs and bars, you're bound to run into someone and everyone, which isn't always a good thing. no, because right then lissa was staring into the face of non other than, harry. good friend and ex-boyfriend. such an odd combination really but to be honest, she didn't see him much. she never saw anyone very often those days - everyone had lives and college. hard to be around with your nose stuck in a blasted book, right? her head was telling her just to give them a sweet smile and ignore them, but her gut was telling her to down her drink and just go over and play nice.
so she did just that. after a few moments hesitation, she downed half of her drink and shuddered at the cold temperature. she stood, smoothing down her clothes and running a hand through her less than perfect hair before making her way over, a slight smile on her lips. she wasn't interested in large, disgusting men but she felt that if they were talking about her, she had to be there to at least defend herself if anything. lissa stood close to harry, simply because he was the only one there she knew and trusted. "is there something wrong here, boys?" she wasn't trying to sound intimidating, but her voice did seem to adopt that razorsharp tone while trying to send big guy and his cronies away. "because you're kind of interrupting my evening, so if you don't mind...go away?"
[/b] she smiled and shrugged indifferently, to be fair she had no plans. but they didn't know she planned on getting happily wasted alone. what they didn't know couldn't hurt them after all. Harry had turned his head over his shoulder again to watch and see what Lissa would do, though after a minute he gathered the fact that she had been completely oblivious to what was happening almost next to her. Harry almost chuckled at this as he glanced back down to his feet. Lissa was always a bit of a dreamer, that was one of the things he liked about her, he had thought it was cute when she would drift off in her own little world. He finally lifted his head at the guys and was about to suggest they leave, though the smirk hadn't quite left his face yet.
Before he could speak though, Lissa's voice came from next to him, and when his head snapped to look over at her, he saw that she was standing close to him, as if for protection. Or because she realized he was there and that he would be safe. He glanced at her momentarily before narrowing his eyes and folded his arms across his chest, getting protective again. is there something wrong here, boys? because you're kind of interrupting my evening, so if you don't mind...go away?" At this, the guy laughed with his friend again. " You have plans? With who? Him?" On the word him, he chose to look up and down at Harry as if sizing him up.
Harry chose this moment to wrap an arm around Lissa's shoulders, not taking his eyes off of the men in front of him. He wore an almost amused smirk and said " yeah, with me. Now, it's really inpolite to disobey a lady so if you wanted any chance of impressing her you'd want to do yourself a favor and go away, like she said." He lifted his eyes as he eyed the two for a moment, letting them make the decision for themselfs first. After a moment of staring, the older man finally grumbled a little bit and motioned his friend to let him know they were leaving.
When they finally walked away and left, Harry heaved a sigh and turned towards Lissa. " sorry about that," he apologized before it hit to him that the two hadn't seen each other in ages. he wrapped his arms around her to hug her as he finished speaking again. " It's so good to see you though! It feels like forever."
[[sorry for the delay and the suckyness?]]
