overall •James William Turner is the least normal guy you will ever meet. He would tell you that he himself isn't normal, but then again is anybody? Normal is boring, it's a word that is made up but nobody can be a perfect example to define it. His family is quite odd to him, but just because of their whole last name issue. See, the Turner's weren't always the Turner's, they had a complete different last name before James was born almost twenty years ago, but his parents had been too ashamed to speak of it. So he never had learned of it, especially since his parents got remarried after being separated for a few years. His mother decided to choose a surname, so she decided with Turner. Yes, Turner as in Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean. Where his father was actually one of the producers of that movie. But that's a whole other story there.
James was born in LA California and lived there for almost a year after he was out of his mother's stomach, and then his family moved to Laguna Beach California where he spent the rest of his childhood at. James was never really that close to his father- his father was a workaholic man that didn't like to stop working for anything. Who can blame him when his job was in demand in Hollywood and was always wanted? If he took an off day he felt that he might loose his job... so the vacations the Turners took were due to his business trips at times. That would be as close to family togetherness as their family would get. James has always been a mama's boy though.
Growing up, James was very close to his little sisters, Savannah and Callie. Both of them took a spot in his heart, but he was attatched to Savannah more than Callie. He didn't understand why, but he just became like that from the moment he first held her in his arms. Callie and James were also close, but he literally was the annoying brother that kept an eye on her, away from guys she could make mistakes in life with and was just protective. The two didn't always get along, in fact there's always sibling rivalry between the two whenever they are in the same room or online chat. They like to prove to be better than the other quite often, and neither like to let the other down. Thankfully the two only attended the same school one time, because once was more than enough for the both of them!
But anyways, back to the trip down memory lane. His father.... and his mother. His parents. His parents have always liked to hold some sort of image for the family- that they were more perfect than they actually were. His mother wasn't as bad as his father was, she at least saw eye to eye with her kids. But this lead to some arguing- and it seemed to only grow from there. When James was in middle school in California, his parents had split up because they couldn't stop fighting so much- not just about the kids, but about everything in life. They were on the verge of getting a divorce, but their divorce papers actually got lost in the mail, and it never went through. And the two ended up remarrying anyhow, and moving onto London right before James started high school because his mother fancied writing a book there.
James was unhappy about leaving California behind though. He had the guys he hung out with, a garage band that was really just for fun, and a best friend whom he was in love with but had a summer fling with. Leaving all those behind was not his favorite thing to do, despite what people would say to him now about it. Because his life was far from perfect once he reached London, England.
For one thing, he was so used to being popular in California so when he got to London it was a bit of a shock for him. James usually spent his time going back home on the weekends to babysit his little sister's Callie and Savannah. Savannah was eight at the time and Callie was fifteen. he never really minded babysitting them since he adored his sisters most of the time. But then he did the unthinkable and actually made friends once he got dragged to a girl's all nighter and was made an honorary girl for the night. Two girls at that party became his best friends, and soon after that he gained some interest from girls at school.
After Callie finally enrolled into the academy, James unknowingly had somebody crushing on him- Whitney Levefre. They were friends and then one night she tried to seduce him, and after that he shut himself out with everybody. Nobody could really understand why he had shut himself out, not even him. A few days after that, James shut himself out more when his little sister Savannah got ran over by a car and died when crossing the street to get to her bus stop in the morning during his junior year.
It took a long time for him to snap out of it again but he did so, and began dating Whitney. Their relationship was good, and she had his mother's approval even. But they had ups and downs because their friends didn't think their relationship was good- they kept warning James that she would hurt him. Whitney was known to sleep around and being the most indecisive girl when it came to guys, but James had hoped that things would be different this time. He gave her the benefit of doubt and was left crushed when he found out she cheated on him.
He ignored her pleas of staying with him and took off, not really knowing where to go. A friend was staying in New York City, so he got one of his other best friends to go over there with him in his father's jet. And then from there he got word that his old California buddies were keeping their pact from fourth grade and traveling the fifty states before their senior year started, not going back to school until all of them were seen. James quickly joined them and then went back to London one last time...
and returned to Laguna Beach, California just in time for senior year to start. His parents decided to move back too. After he came back there was almost too much change between everybody he knew, so he decided to come to the one place where he knew one of his london friends would be at- New York. His family stayed in California for about a year but they moved to New York before him, and he just now transfered colleges. He could go to one of the Ivy leagues since he's pretty brilliant but because his father never really liked his career decision he had to pay his own way in, so NYU it was.
But one thing has always remained the same- James has had the desire to become a surgeon because it pisses his father off, and because it's what he has always dreamed of doing since he was in second grade.
